Ever wondered how the streets of Newcastle got their often unique names? Discover exactly how with this fascinating walking tour from Newcastle City Guides and NE1’s Summer in the City.

Join your tour guide and roam some of the city’s most famous streets, roads and thoroughfares and learn all about their rich history and the inspiration behind their names – from Darn Crook (now known as St Andrew’s Street) to Newgate.

This tour is free but tickets must be reserved.

Information

Please meet your tour guide outside Haymarket Metro Station opposite the South African war memorial. The tour lasts approximately 1 hour.


Please note this tour includes a steep walk up Pilgrim Street.
