A century ago, the boroughs of Newcastle upon Tyne and Gateshead successfully petitioned Parliament to pass an act allowing the construction of a new bridge across the River Tyne - the iconic Tyne Bridge, which soon became a symbol of the city.

Join Newcastle City Guides and discover the rich history of the Tyne Bridge and the other bridges that span the river in this fascinating walking tour perfect for history buffs and lovers of local culture.

This tour is free but tickets must be reserved.

Please meet your tour guide at The Guildhall. The tour lasts approximately 1 hour.


Please note that this walk includes steep steps and is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible.
